A set of character designs with a sea theme.
I am presenting a lineup of character design concepts in a dark fantasy style. Each character is designed to feel distinct and intentional, although these are some of my first standalone character pieces. At this point, I can already see that I still need to push my conceptual thinking further and refine it.
The idea for this entire sea-themed set was inspired by the short story A Little Sacrifice from Andrzej Sapkowski’s Sword of Destiny. There is a scene where Geralt walks along the seabed, and after the tide pulls back, fish-like dead warriors begin to rise from the foam. They wear corroded, green-stained copper armor and strange helmets, carrying sabers and short spears.
I did not want to create a cliché interpretation of sea warriors, so I used that imagery only as a starting point and developed my own designs from there.

This is the concept Mauler, a kind of crusher, he’s a bit dumb, slow, but very strong.
